If you want healthy hair and nails it's time to look at what you eat...

hair and nailsWhen you eat a balanced diet, your hair and nails can thank you for it - your hair becomes shiny and your nails will become strong. You need B complex vitamins such as biotin and folic acid to help you, as well as these healthy foods:

Vegetables and Fruits
Dark green vegetables will give your body vitamin A and vitamin B6, ideal for your hair and nails. Carrots will also help - why not try grating some into your salad or enjoying a delicious carrot and coriander soup. Pumpkin seeds which can now be found in most supermarkets provide vitamin B complex, as well as calcium, zinc and vitamin E. Think about purchasing a blender for a quick and easy way to get your vitamins.

Meat, Poultry and Fish
Get yourself to the red meat aisle and pick up some beef and liver for a high protein and iron meal - your hair will thank you for it. Chicken, turkey and fish contain protein - not as much as in red meat - but they do contain less fat. Healthy fats include tuna and salmon which re also good for shiny hair and can contain vitamin E, vitamin BV6 and selenium.

Grains and Legumes
Soybeans, barley and rice can help your hair and nails grow strong. Tuck into lentils and brown rice which contains vitamin A and vitamin and vitamin B6.

Dairy
Hooray - break out the cheese board - it's a great source of calcium, selenium and vitamin A. Eggs will also help as they are high in biotin.
